Bejeezus is a music / personal / political zine. We are dedicated to supporting and promoting girls, southern people, small towns, fun places, and tons of other things that we love. Bejeezus is here to show that exciting things and interesting people are everywhere, not just in big cities.
Bejeezus started in 1998 in Sissonville, WV. It began out of boredom, combined with a lack of magazines that we could relate to. After years of complaining, we realized that we could just start our own magazine and Bejeezus was born. In 1999, we moved to Louisville, KY and we plan to stick around here for awhile.
Each issue of our zine is filled with interviews, commentaries, comics, reviews, editorials, and more. There is not a certain type of music or art that we cover. It ranges from punk to bluegrass, just as long as we like it! We mainly like to feature female musicians and artists, but we do occasionally cover males, if we feel that what they are doing is unique and should be covered. One of the main goals of Bejeezus is to spread the word about creative people, progressive ideas, and interesting places that you might not see featured in a lot of other magazines.
Bejeezus is published three times per year. Our current printing is 1,000 copies per issue and we continue to grow with each new issue. Bejeezus #4 will be out in the winter of 2003.
